A submarine, an America's Cup yacht and a fishing boat sit side by side on Fremantle’s waterfront, each telling a very different story about life at sea. The WA Maritime Museum explores Western Australia’s deep connection with the ocean, from Indigenous traditions and coastal trade to naval history, fishing and competitive sailing. The museum’s vessels are part of the collection rather than simply displays: visitors can step aboard the former HMAS *Ovens*, explore the *Parry Endeavour* and see *Australia II*, the yacht that ended the United States’ 132-year hold on the America’s Cup in 1983. Inside the galleries, maritime technology, migration and ocean environments add context to the stories unfolding outside.
