The story of the Gascoyne region is told through the voices, knowledge and traditions of its Aboriginal communities at Gwoonwardu Mia. Located in Carnarvon, Western Australia, the museum and cultural centre celebrates the five Aboriginal language groups of the region and their continuing connection to Country. Objects, artworks, photographs and oral histories reveal stories of family, ceremony, country and survival, while contemporary works show that this culture is not confined to the past.
