Kalgoorlie was built on gold, and the Museum of the Goldfields tells the story from the ground up. Located in the heart of Western Australia’s historic Goldfields, the museum explores the discoveries, people and industries that transformed a remote part of the country during the gold rush. Gold nuggets and mining equipment share the galleries with photographs, jewellery, household objects and stories from the region’s communities. One of the highlights is the underground miner’s experience, while the museum also looks beyond the rush itself at Aboriginal history, migration and the changing life of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
