Perched above King George Sound in Albany, the National Anzac Centre overlooks the harbour from which more than 41,000 Australian and New Zealand troops departed for the First World War. Opened in 2014, the centre tells the story of the Anzac forces through personal accounts, photographs, objects and interactive displays. Rather than focusing only on battles, the exhibitions follow individual servicemen and women from enlistment through training, deployment and the return home. Visitors can explore their stories while looking out across the same waters where the troop convoys gathered before leaving Australia.
