The François Rude Museum in Dijon is dedicated to the work of the French sculptor François Rude, one of the leading figures of 19th-century French Romantic sculpture. Located in the former Saint-Étienne church, the museum is part of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dijon and presents works connected to Rude’s life and career. The collection includes sculptures, plaster casts, sketches and preparatory works, including studies for some of Rude’s best-known commissions. Among the highlights is the monumental plaster model for his Departure of the Volunteers of 1792, created for the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
