Saint LouisMissouri/United States

The Saint Louis Art Museum sits at the heart of Forest Park in a grand Beaux-Arts building originally constructed for the 1904 World’s Fair. Founded in 1879, it has grown into one of the major encyclopedic art museums in the United States, with collections spanning cultures and periods from antiquity to the present. Its galleries bring together European and American paintings, ancient Mediterranean art, Asian and Islamic collections, African and Oceanian art, decorative arts and modern works. Highlights include paintings by Monet, Picasso and Matisse, along with ancient Egyptian objects and one of the country’s notable collections of German Expressionism.
