The Wiertz Museum in Brussels is dedicated to Belgian painter and sculptor Antoine Wiertz (1806–1865). His former studio is known for its monumental paintings, inspired by artists such as Peter Paul Rubens, Michelangelo and Raphael. Smaller rooms display additional paintings and sketches, offering a closer look at Wiertz’s dramatic and often controversial approach to art. The museum became part of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium in 1868. Housed in Wiertz’s former home and studio in the Ixelles district, it preserves a collection centred on his work. The museum is currently closed to the public for renovation.
