Constantin Meunier’s former home and studio in Ixelles, Brussels, preserves the work of a Belgian artist known for depicting industrial workers, miners and dockworkers. A painter, sculptor and draughtsman, Meunier (1831–1905) turned the working world and Belgium’s industrial transformation into central subjects of his art. The museum presents a selection of around 150 works and documents, including paintings, drawings and sculptures in bronze and plaster. The collection focuses on Meunier’s artistic development between 1875 and 1905. His house-studio became a museum in 1939 and is now part of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium.
