The Musée Magritte Museum in Brussels brings together more than 230 works and archival items by Belgian surrealist René Magritte. Housed in the historic Hôtel Altenloh on Place Royale, the museum opened in 2009 and offers a broad view of the artist’s life and work through paintings, gouaches, drawings, sculptures and painted objects. The collection also includes advertising posters, musical scores, photographs and films, revealing the range of Magritte’s creative work beyond painting. Changing displays and loans from public institutions and private collectors bring additional works into the museum, which is part of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium.
