RichmondVirginia/United States

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond houses one of the largest art collections in the United States, spanning more than 5,000 years of history. Founded in 1936, the museum has grown from a state-funded institution into a major encyclopedic museum, with galleries covering African, American, Asian, European, ancient and modern art. Highlights include works by Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Henri Matisse and Peter Paul Rubens, alongside Art Nouveau and Art Deco collections, South Asian art and ancient Egyptian objects. The museum’s sculpture garden and surrounding grounds add another dimension to its collection.
