Two neighbouring historic houses in Antwerp tell the story of the city through the lives of two prominent 17th-century residents. Nicolaas Rockox was a burgomaster and art collector, while Frans Snijders was a painter known for still lifes, animals and hunting scenes. Their former homes now form one museum, combining historic interiors with paintings, sculptures and decorative objects. The collection brings together works from the museum’s own holdings and long-term loans from other institutions and private collections. Themes include domestic life, art collecting, artistic patronage, food, leisure and gardens, offering a view of life in Antwerp during the Baroque period.
