A Lancaster bomber, a Sabre jet and a collection of aircraft spanning almost a century of military aviation fill the hangars at the RAAF Museum in Point Cook. The museum stands on the site of the world’s oldest continuously operating military airfield, established by the Australian Flying Corps in 1913. Aircraft, engines, uniforms, weapons and personal objects trace the development of Australian military aviation from the First World War to the modern era. The collection ranges from early biplanes to supersonic jets, while restored aircraft and working displays reveal the technology and people behind the Royal Australian Air Force’s history.
