National September 11 Memorial & Museum

Built beneath the footprints of the former World Trade Center towers, the National September 11 Memorial & Museum preserves the history and personal stories of the attacks of September 11, 2001, and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. The museum opened in 2014, incorporating surviving structures and archaeological remains from the original site. Its exhibitions combine recovered objects, photographs, recordings, personal testimonies and interactive displays to document the attacks, their aftermath and their lasting impact. The collection includes more than 83,000 artifacts, while the Memorial above ground features two reflecting pools marking the footprints of the Twin Towers.
