The Paulina Bisdom van Vliet Museum offers a unique glimpse into the lives of the affluent middle class at the end of the nineteenth century. The historic building was the home of Paulina Maria Bisdom van Vliet (1840–1923), the last descendant of an influential family. Upon her death, she bequeathed the house and its entire contents to a foundation, with the strict instruction to leave everything exactly as it was. As a result, you now literally step into a time capsule: from the precious porcelain and the impressive library to Paulina’s personal gowns, everything exudes the atmosphere of a bygone era.
