Death, true crime and the macabre take centre stage at the Museum of Death in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Founded in 1995 by J. D. Healy and Cathee Shultz, the museum began in San Diego before moving to Hollywood and later expanding to New Orleans. Its collection brings together funeral objects, coffins, body bags, crime scene photographs, execution-related material and artwork and letters connected to notorious serial killers. Exhibits also explore subjects such as autopsies and cannibalism, offering a graphic look at death, forensic investigation and the ways people have documented or become fascinated by violent crime. The museum recommends the experience for mature audiences.
