Musée Picasso

Picasso’s art and personal world come together inside the Hôtel Salé, a grand 17th-century mansion in Paris’s Marais. The Musée Picasso opened in 1985 and holds the largest public collection dedicated to Pablo Picasso, built partly from works accepted by the French state in lieu of inheritance taxes. More than 5,000 works cover Picasso’s long and constantly changing career, from early paintings and drawings to Cubist experiments, sculpture, ceramics and later works. The collection also includes photographs, letters and objects from his personal archive, offering a view not only of Picasso as an artist but of the people, places and ideas surrounding his work.
