How has immigration shaped France? The Musée national de l’histoire de l’immigration in Paris explores this question through personal stories, historical documents, photographs, artworks and everyday objects. Its permanent exhibition traces migration in France from 1685 to the present day, connecting individual experiences with major political, social and cultural changes. Located in the Palais de la Porte Dorée, the museum presents its history through eleven key dates, examining topics such as citizenship, work, identity, exile and discrimination. Its collection brings together historical and contemporary perspectives, including works by artists with personal or family connections to migration. The exhibition was redesigned in 2023.
