Musée Des Canonniers De Lille

Inside a former convent in the heart of Lille, the Musée des Canonniers tells the story of the city’s volunteer artillerymen and their role in defending Lille. The museum is housed in the former Couvent des Urbanistes, where the company of the Canonniers Sédentaires has preserved its traditions for centuries. Weapons, uniforms, documents, paintings and military objects reveal the history of the artillerymen from the 15th century onwards. Among the collection are cannons, including pieces connected to Lille’s sieges, as well as objects that show how the Canonniers lived and served. The museum offers a small but distinctive look at Lille’s military heritage.
