Musée De L’Orangerie

Eight enormous paintings surround you inside two curved, oval-shaped rooms in the heart of Paris. Claude Monet’s *Water Lilies* were designed for this very space, transforming the former orangery of the Tuileries Garden into an immersive landscape of water, light and colour. Beyond Monet, the museum holds a remarkable collection of early 20th-century art, including works by Renoir, Cézanne, Modigliani, Matisse, Picasso and Rousseau. The collection comes largely from Jean Walter and Paul Guillaume, whose former private collection forms the other major part of the museum. Together, the works connect Monet’s late experiments with the radical developments of modern art.
