The Musée de Cluny in Paris, France, explores the art and history of the Middle Ages through a collection of sculptures, stained glass, jewellery, illuminated manuscripts and tapestries. The museum also preserves archaeological remains from Roman-era Lutetia, the ancient settlement that preceded modern Paris. The museum occupies two remarkable historic buildings: the remains of Gallo-Roman baths dating from the 1st century and the Hôtel de Cluny, a medieval mansion built in the late 15th century. Its most famous treasure is *The Lady and the Unicorn*, a series of six intricate tapestries that explore the senses and remain among the finest examples of medieval textile art.
