The Metropolitan Museum of Art, known simply as The Met, is one of the world’s largest and most visited art museums, located on New York City’s Fifth Avenue. Founded in 1870, it brings together more than 5,000 years of art from cultures around the globe. Visitors can explore an extraordinary range of works, from ancient Egyptian temples and Greek and Roman sculpture to European paintings, Islamic art, American decorative arts and modern masterpieces.
