The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is the largest art museum in the western United States, located on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. Founded in 1910, its collection spans thousands of years and encompasses art from across the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Visitors can explore ancient artefacts, European paintings, Islamic art, Latin American works, modern and contemporary art, photography and decorative arts. Highlights include Chris Burden’s Urban Light, a forest of restored street lamps at the museum’s entrance, and works by artists such as Picasso, Monet and Magritte.
