Whitehall is less a house than a monument to America’s Gilded Age. Built in 1902 as the winter residence of industrialist Henry Morrison Flagler, the 75-room Beaux-Arts mansion became one of Palm Beach’s defining landmarks. Its scale and lavish interiors earned it the nickname “Taj Mahal of North America.” Today, the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum preserves Whitehall as a historic house museum. Period rooms reveal the extraordinary lifestyle of the Flagler family, with original furnishings, artworks and architectural details throughout. Exhibitions also explore Flagler’s role in developing Florida and the rise of Palm Beach as a winter resort.
