The Hans Christian Andersen Museum in Odense, Denmark, explores the life and imagination of one of the world’s best-known storytellers. Built around the house where Andersen was born in 1805, the museum combines the historic birthplace with a modern exhibition designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. Rather than following a traditional chronological biography, the exhibition takes visitors into Andersen’s world through his fairy tales, drawings, paper cuttings and personal objects. The experience connects his stories with themes of creativity, identity and imagination, bringing works such as The Little Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling and The Emperor’s New Clothes into a contemporary setting.
