The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City is one of the world’s most recognizable museums of modern and contemporary art. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and opened in 1959, its distinctive spiral building on Fifth Avenue is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a landmark of modern architecture. The collection includes works by artists such as Kandinsky, Picasso, Cézanne, Degas and Pollock, spanning Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, modern art and contemporary practices. Visitors experience the collection and temporary exhibitions along the museum’s famous continuous ramp, where the architecture forms an integral part of the visit.
