A 150-million-year-old world comes to life in Solnhofen, where some of the most important Jurassic fossils ever discovered were found. Archaeopteryxwelten Solnhofen explores the ancient ecosystems of the Solnhofen Archipelago, with original fossils of Archaeopteryx, pterosaurs, fish and other prehistoric life at its heart. The museum’s PaläoZoo takes visitors through different habitats of the Jurassic world, while a second section explores the region’s famous limestone and the history of lithography. Fossil hunting in nearby quarries adds the chance to search for traces of this ancient world yourself.
