Inside a former industrial hall in Karlsruhe, art meets computers, film, sound and interactive media at ZKM | Center for Art and Media. Founded in 1989, ZKM has grown into an international centre for contemporary and media art, combining exhibitions with research, archives, performances and artistic production. Its exhibitions explore how technology shapes art and society, from early electronic works to interactive installations, video, virtual worlds and contemporary media art. The ZKM also houses the Media Museum and Museum of Contemporary Art, making it a place where art is not only displayed, but experimented with and questioned.
