Housed in Hertford House, a historic London townhouse, the Wallace Collection brings together art collected by generations of British aristocrats and Sir Richard Wallace. Opened as a public museum in 1900, it spans centuries of European art, from medieval and Renaissance objects to 19th-century paintings. Highlights include Fragonard’s *The Swing*, paintings by Titian, Rembrandt and Velázquez, ornate French furniture, Sèvres porcelain and an impressive collection of arms and armour. The rooms retain the character of a grand private residence, offering a glimpse into the tastes and collecting habits of its former owners. Admission to the permanent collection is free.
