The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., documents the history of the Holocaust and its impact on Jewish people and other victims of Nazi persecution. Opened in 1993, the museum combines historical evidence with personal stories to examine how Nazi Germany and its collaborators carried out the systematic murder of six million Jews. The permanent exhibition follows the Holocaust chronologically through photographs, documents, personal belongings and film. Visitors can also explore exhibitions on Nazi persecution, resistance and genocide, while the Hall of Remembrance provides a dedicated space for reflection and remembrance.
