The Übersee-Museum Bremen brings together natural history, cultures and global trade under one roof. Founded in 1896, the museum grew from Bremen’s role as an international trading port and is housed in a landmark building next to Bremen’s main railway station. Its collections explore Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Americas through objects, artworks, photographs, natural-history specimens and ethnographic artefacts. Exhibitions examine everyday life, belief systems, colonial history, migration and global connections, while displays of animals, plants and geological specimens show the relationship between people and their environments.
