Housed in the historic Simeonstift beside Trier’s famous Porta Nigra, the Stadtmuseum Simeonstift tells the story of one of Germany’s oldest cities. Its collection spans more than 900 objects and brings together paintings, sculptures, furniture, textiles and other works that illustrate everyday life, culture and the changing face of Trier over the centuries. The museum’s galleries trace the city’s development from its Roman past through the Middle Ages and early modern period to the present day. Highlights include historic city views, portraits of important figures and objects connected to Trier’s political and cultural history.
