South Park City

South Park City in Colorado recreates a frontier mining town as it looked during the late 19th century. Set in the historic gold-mining region near Fairplay, the open-air museum brings together more than 40 original and reconstructed buildings, from homes and shops to a schoolhouse, saloon and railroad depot. Inside the buildings, period furnishings, tools and everyday objects tell the story of the people who lived and worked in Colorado’s mining communities. Rather than a collection behind glass, South Park City lets visitors walk through an entire historic town and get a feel for everyday life in the American West.
