Established by Congress in 2020, it is part of the Smithsonian Institution and is currently developing its first permanent museum in Washington, D.C. While the permanent building is being developed, the museum presents exhibitions, programs and digital content exploring women’s lives and experiences across American history. Its work covers subjects including science, politics, art, activism, sports and everyday life, highlighting stories that have often been overlooked in traditional accounts of American history.
