Seattle’s Ballard neighbourhood is home to a striking modern building devoted to the stories, traditions and culture of the Nordic countries. The National Nordic Museum traces the history of Nordic immigration to the Pacific Northwest while connecting it with contemporary life in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. More than 12,000 objects span clothing, textiles, furniture, tools, photographs and everyday objects, telling stories of migration, work, family and Nordic traditions. The museum also hosts changing exhibitions that look beyond its historical collections, bringing Nordic art, design and contemporary ideas to Seattle.
