Chihuly Garden And Glass

Glass takes on almost impossible shapes at Chihuly Garden and Glass, where the work of American artist Dale Chihuly fills galleries, courtyards and a lush garden beneath Seattle’s Space Needle. Opened in 2012, the museum presents his large-scale glass sculptures alongside drawings and other works that reveal how his ideas developed. The Glasshouse is the centrepiece, containing a huge suspended sculpture of brightly coloured glass flowers, while the garden places Chihuly’s organic forms among plants and trees. The contrast between fragile-looking glass, living nature and the surrounding city makes the museum as much about the setting as the artworks themselves.
