The Museo Sorolla in Madrid preserves the home and studio of Joaquín Sorolla, the Spanish painter celebrated for his luminous scenes of Mediterranean life. Sorolla lived here with his family from 1911 until his death in 1923, filling the house with paintings, sculptures, ceramics and objects collected during his travels. The museum’s collection includes many of Sorolla’s paintings and drawings, while the rooms retain the atmosphere of an early 20th-century artist’s home. Its Andalusian-inspired garden, designed by Sorolla himself, offers a peaceful setting that reflects the light, colours and outdoor scenes found throughout his work.
