Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village in Avella, Pennsylvania, combines one of North America’s most significant archaeological sites with a recreated historic village. The rockshelter contains evidence of human habitation dating back more than 19,000 years, offering a rare glimpse into some of the earliest known life in the region. Visitors can explore the archaeological site and its museum exhibits before walking through the historic village, where restored and reconstructed buildings illustrate rural life from the 18th to early 20th centuries.
