Ikon Gallery

Housed in a former Victorian school in Birmingham, Ikon Gallery has spent decades making contemporary art accessible to a wider audience. Founded by a group of artists in 1964, it began as an alternative to traditional art institutions and continues to present work that challenges expectations of what art can be. Across two floors, rotating exhibitions feature international and emerging artists working in painting, sculpture, photography, film, sound and installation. The gallery also takes art beyond its own walls through community projects and educational programmes. With free admission and a Grade II listed building as its home, Ikon offers a welcoming place to encounter new ideas through contemporary art.
