Art and experimentation meet inside one of Seattle’s most distinctive university museums. The Henry Art Gallery, founded in 1927 as Washington State’s first art museum, is part of the University of Washington and focuses on modern and contemporary art. Rather than following a fixed collection display, the Henry is known for changing exhibitions, experimental projects and works that invite visitors to look at art from different perspectives. Its programme ranges from established international artists to emerging voices, with photography, installation, sculpture and new media all playing a role.
