A jar of moles, a towering dugong skeleton and rare remains of extinct animals make the Grant Museum of Zoology in London an unusual window into the animal kingdom. Founded in 1828 by zoologist Robert Edmond Grant as a teaching collection at University College London, the museum now holds around 100,000 specimens from across the world. Its displays include fossils, skeletons, preserved animals and anatomical models, offering a closer look at evolution, biodiversity and extinction. Highlights include one of only seven quagga skeletons known worldwide and rare specimens of the extinct thylacine. The museum remains a resource for scientific research while welcoming curious visitors with free admission.
