Cité Du Vin

Wine is the subject, but the Cité du Vin in Bordeaux is about much more than what ends up in a glass. Opened in 2016, the striking building on the banks of the Garonne explores wine through history, geography, culture and the people who have shaped its production and trade. Interactive galleries take visitors from ancient winemaking traditions to modern vineyards around the world, combining objects, films, smells and digital experiences. The journey ends high above Bordeaux with a panoramic view of the city and a tasting included with admission. The architecture itself echoes the swirling movement of wine in a glass, giving the building its distinctive form.
