At Winterthur in Delaware, an entire country estate tells the story of American life through the objects people made, used and treasured. The former home of collector Henry Francis du Pont contains 175 rooms and a collection of more than 90,000 objects, including furniture, ceramics, textiles, paintings and glassware. Outside, 60 acres of naturalistic gardens wind through a much larger estate of meadows and woodland. The house, gardens and research library are closely connected, offering different ways to explore American decorative arts, craftsmanship and domestic life across the centuries.
