What happens when everyday objects are treated as works of art? Vienna’s Museum für Angewandte Kunst, better known as the MAK, has been exploring that question since 1864, bringing design, craftsmanship and fine art together under one roof. Furniture, glass, ceramics, textiles, silverware and graphic design form a collection that stretches from the Middle Ages to the present. The museum is particularly known for its Wiener Werkstätte holdings, while the galleries also feature works by Gustav Klimt, Josef Hoffmann and contemporary designers.
