Perched on the 53rd floor of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, Mori Art Museum brings contemporary art into the heart of Tokyo’s skyline. Rather than focusing on a permanent collection, the museum presents changing exhibitions that explore current ideas, social issues and new directions in art. Opened in 2003, it gives particular attention to contemporary artists from Japan and the wider Asia-Pacific region, alongside international voices. Exhibitions span painting, photography, video, installation and architecture, often connecting art with technology, identity and the world around us. Its high-rise setting makes it a distinctive place to encounter art in one of Tokyo’s busiest cultural districts.
