An 8.8-metre tapeworm is the star attraction at Tokyo’s Meguro Parasitological Museum, a research museum devoted entirely to parasites. Founded in 1953 by physician and parasitologist Satoru Kamegai, the museum was established to advance research and public understanding of these often overlooked organisms. Around 300 specimens and related materials are displayed across two floors. The first explores the diversity of parasites, while the second focuses on those that affect humans and other animals. Preserved specimens reveal their remarkable forms and life cycles, offering a closer look at organisms that are usually hidden from view.
