Yongsan-guSeoul/South Korea

Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul, South Korea, presents traditional Korean art alongside modern and contemporary works by Korean and international artists. Its collections include ceramics, calligraphy, paintings, metalwork and Buddhist art, as well as contemporary works in a range of media. Opened in 2004, the museum brings together three buildings designed by architects Mario Botta, Jean Nouvel and Rem Koolhaas. Their contrasting designs give each part of the complex its own character, from the geometric forms of Museum 1 to the modern materials of Museum 2. Together, the buildings connect Korea’s artistic heritage with contemporary art and architecture.
