ThomastonMaine/United States
A recreated historic mansion brings the American Revolution to life at Knox Museum in Thomaston, Maine. The museum tells the story of General Henry Knox, a Revolutionary War commander who transported 60 tons of captured artillery from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston during the winter of 1775–1776. Housed in Montpelier, a reconstruction of Knox’s former home, the museum uses period furnishings, guided tours and historical interpretation to explore his life, his family and the founding of the United States. The house also offers a glimpse into the domestic world of the late 18th century.
