The Sloëtjes House is a hidden gem of postwar architecture in Hilversum. This remarkable residence was designed in 1954 by the renowned functionalist architect Jan Rietveld (son of the world-famous Gerrit Rietveld) on commission from the Sloëtjes family. The house is a textbook example of the “Nieuwe Bouwen” movement: light, air, and space take center stage. Since the property was added to the collection of the Hendrick de Keyser Association, it has served as a unique museum house. Just like in the association’s other houses, there are no barrier ribbons. You are invited to take a seat on the designer furniture, open the built-in cabinets, and truly experience how a modern, forward-thinking family lived in the 1950s.
