Chinese ink paintings, ancient ceramics and contemporary Hong Kong art meet under one roof at the Hong Kong Museum of Art. Overlooking Victoria Harbour in Tsim Sha Tsui, the museum explores how art connects Hong Kong with the wider world, bringing Chinese artistic traditions into dialogue with international works. Founded in 1962, it was Hong Kong’s first public art museum. Its collection includes Chinese painting and calligraphy, antiquities, China trade art and modern works, with dedicated galleries showcasing Hong Kong artists and the painter Wu Guanzhong. Following a major expansion completed in 2019, the museum combines its historic collections with changing exhibitions and new perspectives on art.
