The CRASH Air War and Resistance Museum '40–'45 commemorates and documents the turbulent war years, with a specific focus on the battle for the skies and the local resistance. Located in the historic Fort bij Aalsmeer—part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam and a UNESCO World Heritage Site—this museum offers a unique and immersive setting. The CRASH Foundation began as a working group that researched the approximately 750 airplane crashes that occurred in the region. Today, the museum displays an impressive collection of recovered aircraft wreckage, pilots’ personal belongings, and the courageous deeds of the Haarlemmermeer resistance.
